A Gold medal winner in the 2002 North American Brewers' Association competition, this richly gold-colored Bohemian Pilsner-style beer that begins fresh and malty with a good hop-malt balance and a dense, white rocky head of foam. It maintains its zest and balance of hops and malt from start to finish. It is a cold lagered, naturally carbonated all-malt beer that is very versatile and can be enjoyed alone or with nearly any type of food. |

Its fresh flavor is smooth and carefully balanced with a nice mellowness and hint of caramel malt balanced by medium hop bitterness. It is an all malt beer that is naturally carbonated. This northern Arizona favorite has a consistent nutty flavor with just a hint of spice in its depths. A slowly emerging bitterness crops up along the way and is unobtrusively incorporated into the smoothflow. It finishes with a gentle nuttiness and spiciness. Excellent with sandwiches and subs. |

In 2003 this beer won the Bavarian Gold Medal at both the Great American Beer Festival and the 22nd annual Great American Beer Festival. It is made with up to 50% wheat malt instead of all malted barley which lends a lighter note. It is deep gold in color with a very low hop bitterness level and a dense head of white foam. A traditional unfiltered Bavarian wheat beer with aromatic hints of banana and clove. It is traditionally enjoyed as the summer beer of choice in Bavaria and pairs well with appetizers, sandwiches and subs. |

In 2005 Oak Creek Brewery's Pale Ale was the Silver Medal Winner at the Great American Beer Festival competition (GABF). The GABF is the largest national beer competition that recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the US today. Winners were announced October 1st at the 24th annual GABF awards ceremony held in Denver, Colorado. Head Brewer, Jim Strelau, and Brett Huggins, Assistant Brewer, were present to receive the award and taste some of the other winning beers. They represented owners Fred and Rita Kraus. |

Head brewer for OCBC, Jim Strelau, was present for the Gala and Awards Ceremony at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seatle on April 14. He was presented the bronze medal in the strong ale/lager category for Oak Creek Brewing Company's "Old Knitker Kicker", a 140 schilling Wee Heavy scotch ale with pronounced malt body and notes of whisky and peat smoke topping out at 11 % alcohol by volume. "This is one of our favorite limited release beers to brew for the winter season. It's a real winter warmer, but caution is in order... It'll make your ears red!"", stated OCB( owner, Fred Kraus.
Winners of the competition's 85 beer-style categories were selected by an international panel of 109 beer judges from an impressive field of 2221 entries received from 540 breweries in 56 countries. "Winning an award like this is a true honor due to the level of competition. It's exciting to be recognized for brewing one of the world's best beers," stated head brewer, Jim Strelau.
